Describe the vilna dispute

Poland and Lithuania were now two separate states . Vilna was made capital of Lithuania but it’s population was largely Polish .
In 1920 , A private Polish army took control of Vilna and Lithuania appealed for help . Poland was clearly the aggressor & the league protested to Poland but Poland did not withdraw . According to the covenant it could have sent Britain & French troops to protest against Poland but it did not, the British weren’t prepared to act alone and send troops to other side of Europe and French didn’t want to upset Poland as they saw it as an Ally against Germany

This was a failure overly

Describe the upper Silesia dispute

Answer 2

Upper Silesia was an on the border between a Germany & Poland which they both shared & as a result both countries wanted control because of its iron and steel.
A plebiscite was organized for Silesians to vote which country they wanted to join . French / Britain troops were sent to keep order. Industrial areas voting Germany & rural voted Poland
Solution : the league didvided the region along those lines and built safeguards to prevent disputes

Both countries accepted this therefore it was a success

Describe the Aaland dispute

The Alan’s were located between Sweden & Finland & both claimed the islands
It mostly consisted of Swedes but the island belonged to Finland The dispute was referred to the league and they ordered an investigation and the conclusion www that the island stayed under Finland
They also claimed Swdes should have more autonomy
Result - league was successful because the autonomy was important as Swedish customs were preserved + Finland preserved its borders

Describe the Corfu incident

This was the order between Greece and Albania . A dispute had to be resolved around this area & an Italian general had to supervise . While they were surveying the Greek Frontier The Italian general and his team was killed
Mussolini was furious and blamed Greek government for the murder and demanded compensation
Mussolini occupies a Greek island of Corfu
The Greek appealed to league for help and they condemned Mussolini actions. They also suggested that Greek payed compensation
Greece paid and Italy evacuated.
This was to some extent a success however Italy has provoked Greece

Describe the invasion of Bulgaria

Ok Greek border w/ Bulgaria some soldiers were playing cards
Eventually and somehow it resulted in death of 2 Greek boarder guards when news reached Greek government it made it seem as Bulgaria had launched an invasion
Did to that Greece ordered an attack on Bulgaria.
Bulgaria informed league and instructed both to withdraw. The league went to confirm the events and found that Greek had taken crops before they retreated
Greece has to pay compensation to Bulgaria

This was a success because the council demand to end military action was obeyed.
