placed great stress on Japanese society especially the economy and many Japanese people would turn to the military to control the state’s economy, government, and all policies.

because they saw the impact the opiam war had on china because they weren’t able to connect with the western culture and decided that they didn’t want the same thing to happen to them so they opened their borders to US trade.

the idea that the rising sun goddess land had blessed their land.

Further propelled nationalsim and lead to the rise of some pro-nationalist groups and imperialist groups as they wanted to spread japan.

between japan and china from 1994-95, and resulted in the gain of Japanese land, japan thought they had done so fairly.

they formed the triple intervention, was by Russia Germany and France. They wanted them to return the land to china and this lead to resentment from japan as they thought they deserved the land.

this reenforced the idea that they needed a strong military in order to represent themselves and start on top.

there was intense industrialisation because they wanted to keep up with the wester powers who they now felt like they were directly competing with.

it was the first allliance between a western and non western power and it was to prevent the spread of russia into eastern Asia

in 1904-05 due to competing businesses, Japan won but settles for money and lost some territory.

they were able to gain back some of the land they lost due to the triple intervention.

they were a secret ultimaden from japan to china. it was a list of demands that would give more control for japan over china. because they felt like they owned china.

they were changed to 13 and China accepted them

a racial equality caluse becasue they felt as an asian
country they felt that they might have been discriminated against because they were an asian country. this was denied.
