Theme of secrecy
the characterisation of Jekyll is such that he wishes to hide aspects of his life and personality particularly the behaviours which bring him pleasure. This demonstrates the theme of secrecy as a part of him is always hidden from society.
Carew and secrecy or evil
After Hyde brutally murders Carew, he packs up his belongings and flees his home. These actions demonstrate the theme of secrecy through Hydes’s desire to not be caught by the police and to protect himself from being exposed. The secret being he is the murderer.
