What is an inventory item?
Physical items that you carry in stock
What is an non-inventory item?
physical item that you dont typical carry on hand. For example, parts you order directly OR labor fees.
Why is it beneficial to track non-inventory items?
Allows you to see more detailed cost breakdown when you view WO profitability in FE.

What is an income account when assigned to an item?
The revenue account the revenue will transfer to when you finalize to QB
What is an inventory asset account?
Account that will be credited when purchasing from a vendor
What is the cost of goods account?
An account that is debited when you use an item
Can you add upgrade items to recommended items to FE when you add a certain item?
Yes
Does FieldEdge have purchasing reorder notifications?
No, but QB does and you can set it in FE to notify on a certain quantity level
When should you post a parts request to QB as a bill vs a PO
Post to QB as a PO if you are tracking and receiving inventory
If you just want to track what vendor to pay, post as a bill
Can FieldEdge create POs? What are the limitations
POs can only be attached to a work order
What is a purchase order?
a non-posting document that merely serves as a memo in which you tell the supplier what it is that you wish to purchase
What is a bill (in QB)?
Record items received from vendor and show you are obligated to pay
Does FE deduct inventory quantities from the invoice? When does this happen
Yes, but not until the invoice is finalized
Can techs see quantity of items on hand in the mobile app? What limitations are there?
yes, but only if they are tracking in 1 warehouse
Do assembly’s post to QB?
No. The individual items post over.
What do ST and SF not tell you abut their “built in inventory”?
You still have to receive parts in QB
Can you filter the restocking report for inventory items>?
Yes
What are the reasons companies want multi warehouse inventory?
Are they wanting to dedicate a parts manager, do daily counts, and be real serious do it.
Do they want to know if their guys are stealing parts? Buy a security camera
Do they just want to have a good quantity on hand? Do quarterly checks on QB and restock trucks using our restocking reports.
What is the inventory part of QB called? Can you do permission settings?
“Inventory Center” Yes, you can do permission settings.
If you create a parts request in FE and you have multi warehouse, how does that go over to QB? Can you edit it?
As a PO, you cannot edit it.
Does FE have barcode scanning? Does QB?
No/Yes
Can you use coolfront and inventory?
NO.
How do non-billable items show up back in the office?
On the invoice as uncheck items (not shown to customer)
Where do you find equipment settings? Can you make model number or type of equipment reports?
Under settings, equipment, YES
When a company says they want to track inventory, what are the main 3 reasons why?
- want to be able to restock the trucks (restocking)
- Shrinkage, scared of theft or side jobs (security system and GPS tracking).
- Tax purposes. Do you have 250k plus in inventory? go for it.
If a company is tracking inventory, what do you ask them?
How are you managing it? Are your numbers accurate? Who does it? Why?
