Verona province, Veneto in NE Italy, Delimited 1927 - DOC 1968 & - DOCG 2002, Classico = hillside vineyards; Eastern (Monteforte d’Alpone) decompsed volcanic rock = steelier wines, Western (Soave) limestone & warmer afternoon light - fuller/forward wines, plains = bulk; Garganega, Trebbiano di Soave, Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Trebbiano Toscano (excluded in DOCG)

Soave Superiore DOCG

A

2002; Soave Superiore - made from grapes grown from hillside vines previously mapped out for Recioto di Soave DOCG, In classico zone = Soave Classico Superiore DOCG; outside classico but in hills = Soave Colli Scaligeri Superiore DOCG; Not all wines from hills are DOCG - must have >=12%abv; Garganega >70% blend, rest can be Trebbiano di Soave, Chard, Pinto Bianco, Trebbiano Toscano excluded from blend.
