What is a router?
A device that communicates between the internet and the devices in your home that connect to the internet
Routes internet traffic between connected devices and the internet.
What does a VPN do/used for?
Protects its users by encrypting their data and masking their IP addresses.
What is a switch?
A switch connects network devices, such as computers and servers, to one another.
Switches send the data to the device that requested it.
What is a hub?
A device that links multiple computers and devices together.
Hubs send the data to all connected devices.
What is a modem?
Network devices that convert digital computer signals into analog signals suitable for transmission over telephone or cable lines, and vice versa.
What is a ethernet cable?
A cable that transmits data through electrical signals.
Transmits: data, internet.
What is a fiber optic cable?
Cables that transmit data using light pulses enabling high-speed, long-distance data transmission with minimal signal loss.
What is a wireless signal?
Signals that transmit data through the air using radio waves.
What is bus topology?
All devices are connected to a single, shared communication line.
What is star topology?
All devices are directly connected to a central hub allowing for independent communication.
