This is a result of the cycle of deprivation passing from generation to generation.
How does social deprivation impact children?
They do poorly at school and end up with lower qualifications.
What is the overall result of social deprivtion in terms of behaviour?
There is an increase in anti social behaviour in terms of drug taking, crime and gang culture.
What is re-urbanisation?
This is the movement of people back into an area that has previously been abandoned.
What did the urban development corporations do?
They cleared derelict buildings and fixed land by decontamination which improved infrastructure.
What is the outcome of re-urbanisation?
It attracts investment and the culture of the area changes.
What is gentrification?
This is when an area is redeveloped and upgraded.
What is the urban development corporations plan for gentrification?
They plan for workers to live closer in inner city apartments.
How are the buildings quality?
The buildings are built to high specifications.
