it is an internet server that translates IP addresses into website domain names
why do data centres and DNS use a lot of energy
they are continuously running so require a lot of power
why are computers not environmentally friendly
most are made out of toxic materials like lead and are hard to recycle. users also discard tech quite quickly
why is tech discarded quickly
updated software and new machines come through so people get new phones every few years, organisations replace computers after a couple years and out dated equipment is replaced
what is being done about the environmental impacts
devices become more efficient and there are better ways to save power
