transmission control/ internet TCP, defines how messages are broken up and put together in packets (also detects error and re-send lost packages)
what is IP
Internet protocol, identifies location of devices and packet routes from source to destination
what is UDP
User datagram protocol, uses a connectionlesstransmission model
what is HTTP / HTTPS
Hyper text transfer protocol / secure, used for accessing and recieving web pages in the form of HTML, HTTPS means it is also secured
what is FTP
File transfer protocol, transferring files between client and server on a network
what is IMAP
Internet message access protocol, stores email messages on a server but allows users to view and edit it
what is SMTP
Simple mail transfer protocol, sending emails between servers
