Isotopes And Ions Flashcards

1
Q

What is an isotope?

A

An isotope is an atom of the same elements with the same number of protons but different number of neutrons and have different masses

Q

What are ions?

A

Ions are charged atoms. They are formed when atoms lose or gain electrons. The electrons change so that means there is a positively and negatively charged object. The electrons change but the protons and neutrons stay the same.

Q

What does the atomic number hold (in subatomic particles)?
