what does Tawhid mean
the belief that there is only one god

Muslims believe that God is the only creator and has control over everything therefore nothing takes place unless God allows it
why are there two different Islamic beliefs (Sunni and Shia Muslims)
when Muhammed died the majority of Muslims believed that only the Quran and the Sunnah had the authority to guide the beliefs of Muslims. Sunni Muslims elected Caliph as their leader to act on behalf of God. Another group believed that Muhammed named his cousin as his successor. These Muslims believe that each true leader ( called the imam) leader is a descent of Muhammed and chosen by God. Shia have their own interpretation of Islamic laws
what are the six articles of faith in Sunni Islam
- there is only one God
- Angels communicate the message of God to humans
- the Quran is the most important writing in Islam
- Muhammed is the most important prophet
- the day of judgment is when all humans will be judged by God and sent to Heaven or Hell

- Tawhid means there is only one God
- prophethood means that accepting Muhammed is Gods last prophet
- the fact that God is just and wise and cannot do wrong
- the Imamate meaning accepting that the twelve Imams are the leaders of Islam
- the resurrection on the day of judgment where everyone is bought back to life and questioned on good and bad deeds
what does immanent and transcendent mean
Muslims believe that God is within all things and close to his people yet is also beyond all things and in control of everything
what does omnipotent mean
God is all powerful as he is the creator
what does beneficent mean
God is the source of all goodness
what does merciful mean
Muslims believe God understands their suffering and forgives them if they are truly sorry for anything wrong they have done
what does fair and just mean
they believe God treats everyone fairly and justly and believe they should treat everyone the same way
what are angels
- Muslims believe Angels bring the word of God to the prophets
- they have no free will and therefore cannot disobey or displease God
what is the purpose of angels according to Muslims
- angels are involved in the lives of humans from birth until death
- record humans behaviours in a book of deeds and everything they say and do. this will give evidence to God on the day of judgment
- Angles escort Muslims to heaven and guard the gates of Hell
who is Angel Jibril
he is an angel with a higher status than others and is a trusted messenger of God
Muslims believe that Jibril recited Gods words of the Quran to Muhammed from God
who is Angel Mik’al
the angel of mercy
God assigned Mik’al as the angel of mercy
rewards the people for good they do during their lives and also sending rain, thunder and lightening to earth
what is predestination in Sunni Muslims
they believe that God has already determined everything that will happen in the universe because God is so powerful
what is predestination in Shia Muslims
they believe that God knows everything that is going to happen but this doesn’t mean that he decides, people still have free will
what do Muslims believe happen on the day of judgement
God judges humans according to everything they have done throughout their lives.

believes people still have conscious in the grave, this is where they enter a state of waiting, in which of the day of judgment is approaching

the beginning of a new stage in life after death
what do Muslims believe happen when God fulfils his purpose of the world
the world will be transformed into a new world and everyone who has ever lived will be resurrected and judged by God ( day of Judgment)
why is the belief in life after death important
encourages human responsibility for their own actions because they will be held accountable for them by God

Muslims believe that God chose many prophets to bring the message of Islam to people

Iblis deceived them to eat the fruit from the tree. they were thrown out the garden. their actions brought sin on the world and now all humans must be judged on the day of judgment
why is Ibrahim important
he was determined to discover who created the universe. he declared his belief in one God and was determined to stop idol worship
what is idol worship
the worship of anyone but God
how did Ibrahim influence people to stop idol worship and follow God
when the town was empty, Ibrahim destroyed all of the idols in the temple. when they returned they demanded he should be burned alive. a miracle happened and the fire only burned his chains and he then walked free. people then begun following god
who is Muhammed and how did he gain his position
the last and the greatest prophet
- he went to a cave in a mountain for prayer, the angel Jibril appeared with a message from God. he then further received these and eventually formed the Quran
what is the importance of the Quran
Muslims believe that the Quran is the word of God which was revealed to Muhammed by angel Jibril
what does the Quran include
historical accounts and advise on how to follow God and Islamic teachings

Bible, The Torah, The Psalms, The Gospel, The Scrolls Of Abraham
