The belief that:

What is risalah?
Risalah is the nature and importance of prophethood in Islam.
What is akhira?
Akhira is the afterlife.
Name three ways that the six articles of faith are important to Muslims.
- they unite all Sunni Muslims under the same beliefs
- they help Sunni Muslims to understand their religion better
- they support Sunni Muslims in how they should live their lives

Give three ways that the six articles of faith influence Sunni Muslims today.
- belief in akhira may influence them to try to please Allah

- avoid certain behaviors such as drinking alcohol

- belief in the authority of the holy books could influence them to read them more often

Name the five roots of Usal ad-Din.

Briefly explain the Shi’a Islam belief of adalat.
Adalat is the idea that Allah is always fair and just in the way he treats everything.
What is the imamate?
The imamate are the successors to Muhammad that Allah appointed to guide humanity and be a source of authority. Shi’a Muslims believe there were twelve of them, while Sunni Muslims believe there were only seven.

- tawhid (oneness of God)
- omnipotence (Allah is the most powerful being in existence. He created and controls everything.)
- beneficence (Allah is caring and loves his creation)
- mercy (Allah forgives people for their wrongdoings)
- adalat (Allah is perfectly just and will judge humans completely fairly.)
What is immanence?
God is close to and involved in his creation.
What is transcendence?
God is above all things and beyond human understanding.
Give three reasons why it is important for Muslims to know what God is like.
- understand him better
- helps them to respect and worship him for his nature
- follow the ways he wants them to live their lives
- encourage them to strive to be better people, as this is what they believe he wants from them
- strengthen their relationship with him

Who is Jibril?
Jibril (known as Gabriel in Christianity and Judaism) is an angel. Muslims believe that Allah revealed the Qur’an to Muhammad through Jibril. Jibril also taught Muhammad how to pray.
