What is tawhid
The belief in one indivisible God known as towhid

What does the belief in tawhid means that Muslims should do
– Worship only one God – never make anything in their life is more important than God – not use images or pictures of God as it is impossible to betray him accurately

4-the prophets- respect for the prophets particularly Muhammad

- transcendent:created the universe so is outside it but he is also immanent because he is within the universe
- immanent:god is present everywhere
- omnipotent
- merciful:care and forgives
- fair and just:treats everyone fairly
- beneficent:all loving

- spiritual beings, created by god from light
- constantly serves and praises god
- pure and sinless
- have no free will
- are able to take on a human form to give messages to people
what are the roles of angles
- messenger to god
- take care of people throughout their lives
- record everything a person does in their own book of deeds
- take people souls to god after they die

angel of revelation
- purified mohammeds heart when he was a child so he could later receives gods revelation
- passed gods messages to muhammad to guide him through life

- responsible for sending lightning rain and thunder to earth
- brings nourishment to earth to feed humans

god determines everything that will happen in the universe

what is the ka’aba
small cube shaped building in the centre of the grand mosque in mecca is the holiest place in islam and is the house of god.
it was destroyed in the great flood at first after being built by adam and then ibrahim rebuilt it
why is muhammad so important
- he made the qur’an from revelations told to him by jibril
- he converted mecca into islam even though he was persecuted for it
- went to heaven and made the pray 5 time a day rule which sunni muslims still do

leader of shia is called the imam
- they believe that the imam should be a descendent of muhammad chosen by god
- they can interpret the qur’an without fault
- they give guidance on how to live an islamic life
