Why is the Imamate so important to Shia?
They are the protectors of faith
Imams are infallible (what they teach is correct without question)
They live as proof of Allahs existence

What are the 5 Roots of Usul ad- Din (Shia)?
These are the essential beliefs of the twelve Shias
TAWHID- Belief in the Oneness and unity of God
“He is Allah the one. Allah is eternal and absolute”
ADL- Belief in Divine Justice
“Indeed Allah commands them towards Justice”
NUBUWAH- Belief in Prophethood
IMAMAH- Belief in Imams
MAAD- Belief in the day of Resurrection
What are the 6 Articles of Faith (Sunni)?
Oneness of God- TAWHID- only one, supreme God
“He is Allah the one. Allah is eternal and absolute”
Angels- MALAIKAH- exist to serve Allah
Holy Books- Quran
Prophethood- RISALAH- to guide and warn humans; Mohammed was the last Prophet
Life after death- AKHIRAH- including judgement
Pre-destination of will- AL-QADR- Allah already knows everything we will do already; A divine plan
What is the Justice of Allah?

The Justice of Allah - AL- ADALAH
A key Pillar of Islam
Allah must by definition- Always act in a Just way!
Allah doesn’t do injustice to anyone!
“He does not do injustice, not even a single atom’s weight”
This rule about acting Just inspires muslims today to always act Just
What relationship do humans have with Allah?
He is Immanent- close to us and involved in the world
He knows every thought before we do
He is in the world to guide us
Active all the time!
“And he is with you wherever you may be”
Allah is also Transcendent- Allah is outside the world and beyond space and time
Allah isn’t affected by time.
He is beyond understanding
Being beyond the world allows him to control it
What is the omnipotence of Allah?
Quality of Allah
Omnipotent- All- powerful AL QADEER
He is able to do anything
All trust must be put in Allah as he is the cause and maintainer of life
“He who is All-Knowing, the All-Powerful, able to do anything”
What is the Oneness of Allah?
Quality of Allah
Oneness- TAWHID
He is the one source of power and creation
He is one ultimate being
“There is no God but Allah”
What are the qualities of Allah?
Justice
Omnipotence
Oneness
Beneficence and Mercy
What is the beneficence and mercy of Allah?
Beneficence- All Loving AL- RAHMAN
Merciful- All Merciful AL RAHIM
Means that Allah is compassionate and fair
It is important for Allah to have these qualities
If humans repent- Allah forgives
“The Beneficent is established on the throne”
“Praise to be Allah, Lord of the universe, most compassionate, most merciful”
Who was Adam?
The first Human (made out of clay)
Given Hawwa (Eve) for company
Tempted by Iblis to eat Fruit off a tree Allah forbade him to do - Eats fruit
Allah sends Adam out of Paradise and sent to Earth
Adam asks for forgiveness- Allah forgives and tells Adam to be an example for humankind (1st Prophet)
Built 1st Ka’aba- Place of worship
Is a role-model for humans- shows that humans don’t have to be perfect to be loved by Allah
“I am going to create human out of clay… so when I have made him, and breathed life into him”
Who was Ibrahim?
Another Prophet
Believed in Allah while others were worshipping idols
Preached a belief in ONE God
People didn’t like his beliefs tried to burn him- God protected him
To show his faith towards Allah- Had to kill his son but was stopped just in time by Allah (son lived)
