Q

What is the difference between a Cortical and a subcortical infarct?

Q

What can a posterior sirculation system infarction present?

A

Superior cerebellar, AICA, PICA, pontine perforators can all infarct.

Basilar occlusion can result in decrease LOC

  • Vertigo
  • Diplopia
  • Nausea/vomiting
  • Ataxia

Q

Where do you get crossed signs?

A

always think brainstem

that is where things cross

  • Crossed signs
  • Right face weakness
  • Facial nucleus and Corticobulbar tract
  • Left body weakness
  • Corticospinal tract
  • Crossed in lower medulla
