Ischemic Dx Part 3 Flashcards
What is Dressler’s Syndrome?
Immune mediated Pericarditis that occurs after damage to heart tissue
When could Dressler’s Syndrome occur?
1-12 weeks
How does RV Infarction present?
HoTN with LV function in tact
If someone has RV Infarction, would it be appropriate to give morphine or nitrates?
No! RV infarcation occurs with HoTN- Morphine and Nitrates would worsen the low BP
How to treat HoTN with RV Infarction
IV NS bolus and continuous
OR
Inotropic agents
Ventricular Free-Wall Rupture is MC in which ventricle and which walls?
In LV-Anterior or Lateral Walls
Ventricular Free- Wall Rupture is MC with what age group? What dx?
Elderly
First MI
When will Ventricular Free Wall Rupture occur?
MC in first 24 hours
(Can occur in 1-4 days)
How might ventricular free wall rupture present?
Pericardial Effusion or Pulseless Electrical Activity
T/F: Post-MI Ventricular Septal Defect is a relatively common post-MI complication
FALSE, it is rare
What complication is associated with Transmural MI?
Post-MI Ventricular Septal Defect
T/F: Acute Mitral regurgitation from ruptured papillary muscle is a relatively common post-MI complication
FALSE, it is rare
When does Acute Mitral regurgitation from ruptured papillary muscle typically occur?
2-7 days post MI
How does Acute Mitral regurgitation from ruptured papillary muscle present?
Presents as sudden onset decompensated heart failure
After a transmural infarction occurs and remodeling starts, what complication can happen?
LV Aneurysm
