Ischaemic Heart Disease Flashcards
what is ischaemic heart disease?
lack of blood flow
4 steps which lead to ischaemic heart disease?
- insufficient perfusion through ischaemia
- hypoxia of heart muscle cells
- heart muscles rely on anaerobic processes
- servere lack of ATP leads to ECG changes
how to calculate cardiac output?
CO= heart rate x stroke volume
what is stroke volume influenced by? (3)
- preload
- after load
- contractility
what is preload in regards to stroke volume?
preload is the volume of blood the ventricles fill with
what is preload in regards to stroke volume?
after load is the amount of pressure in the vessel the chamber is ejecting into
what is contractility in regards to stroke volume?
strength of contraction
what is heart rate influenced by? (2)
- increased adrenaline
2. increased thyroid hormone
What happens when heart failure occurs?
insufficient ejection of blood (inadequate perfusion)
Why does heart failure occur?
- due to left ventricle dysfunction
- hypertension
- acute myocardial infarction
why does left heart failure?
increased preload and after load
what is systolic and diastolic?
systolic: insufficient cardiac output to tissues
diastolic: pulmonary congestion
right heart failure? (2)
main cause is left heart failure and increased afterload
