ischaemic heart disease Flashcards
what are the 4 types of coronary syndromes for ischaemic heart disease?
- angina pectoris-
- acute myocardial infarction
- chronic IHD with CHF
- sudden cardiac death
obstruction of more than 70% of vessel leads to critical stenosis. T/F
TRUE
What is a fixed stenosis?
occludes 90% or more of a vascular lumen can lea to inadequate coronary blood flow with symptoms even at rest
what is collateral perfusion?
remodelling of the artery may compensatory blood flow at area of risk when atherosclerotic lesion progressively occludes a coronary artery at a sufficiently slow rate over year
which cells interact leading to atherosclerosis?
endothelial cells and circulating leukocytes resulting in t cell and macrophage recruitment and activation
what is a transmural infarction?
ST elevation-STEMI-involves full thickness of the ventricle caused by epicardial vessel occlusion through combo of chronic atherosclerosis and acute thrombosis
subendocardial infarction?
MIs limited to the inner third of myocardium-these infarcts don’t exhibit ST-segment elevations or Q waves on the ECG tracing
