ISA Flashcards
What is an independent variable
Something that is deliberately changed throughout the investigation
Example of analysing/ draw conclusion/ describing the relationship
I found that there is a relationship between picking your nose and the amount of spots you have. The more you pick your nose the more spots you’ll have. For example, my results showed …….
How to say if your results back up your investigation
My results did not/did back up the prediction. The prediction was that picking your nose more has no effect on the amount of spots you have. But I found the opposite to be true in my investigation.
Equipment
What are you going to use. ALL OF IT. And why it is right for the job.
What hazards there are
How to reduce them.
‘Girls hair may get stuck in the blades but to reduce this they can tie it up with a hair band.’
Remember a table
Draw a clear table and do each reading 3 times to get an average therefore the reading will be more accurate.
Evaluate your experiment
Suggest ways you could improve your experiment
• how the improvement would give you better data next time
• refer to your results… ‘My data wasn’t accurate enough because ten mass balance I used only measured in 1g steps. I could use a more sensitive one next time.
What makes a good method.
Easy to read Key steps Well later out Clear hypothesis Picture to show the investigation taking place
A bad method will NOT have these.
What is a controlled variable
Something that is unchanged throughout the investigation
