IRT Questions Flashcards
What time must you have filed a flight plan by?
at least 1 hour before off chocks time
What time must you have entered the airway by?
+ or - 3 minutes of cleared time
How early/late can you be before needing to refile the flight plan?
30 mins
How do you join an airway if ‘cleared to join at’?
Hit airway at 90 degree angle, + or - 10nm from point to gain track
How do you join an airway if you are ‘Cleared to join on track’?
Must be on track below airway, climb once join point underflown
What does ‘join on track at ROLEX FL90’ mean as an airways clearance?
A join on track where the airspace steps down to the cleared FL rather than the aircraft being climbed up to the airway once join point overflown.
Airways flight parameters (speed, AoB, turn anticipation)
Speed 0.65M, AoB 45 degrees (2.5nm turn radius), anticipation around 4nm for 90 degree turn
Rate 1 Turn ‘rule of thumb’
1/10 TAS +7 = AoB required for rate 1 turn
Course bar deviation increments (TAC/VOR, ILS)
TAC/VOR = 4 degrees, ILS = 1.25 degrees
Altimeter temperature correction? When is it applied?
Applied if aerodrome temp <0 degrees. Correction = +4ft per 1000ft elevation per degree difference from ISA
TACAN approach tolerances? (Arc limits, radial tolerance to continue from IF, max speed <10nm hold join, mad drift for hold to be flyable, deviation on descent from FAF)
Arc limits - + - 1nm
Radial tolerance to continue from IF - 5 degrees
Speed <10nm hold join - 230kts
Max drift for hold to be flyable - 10 degrees
Deviation on descent from FAF - Half scale deflection
VMC conditions (>FL100, 3000, >3000)
> FL100: 1500m horiz, 1000ft vert, 8km vis
3000ft agl: 1500m horiz, 1000ft vert, 8km vis (5km if less than 250kts)
> 3000ft amsl: 1500m horiz, 1000ft vert, 8km vis
Hawk T2 approach categories (normal, flapless)
Normal - C
Flapless - E
