What did the Sinn Fein want and what were their ideas?
They wanted a system of peaceful resistance in which a voluntary parliament would be formed as a form of defiance against the British government.
What were the impacts of the constitutional crisis?
The Liberals lost overall majority in the House of Commons. There was now a minority government and the Irish Nationalist MPs held most of the power. This ended up with the passing of the Parliament Act of 1911. This therefore put Irish Home Rule at the top of the political agenda.

An Irish parliament with an elected House of Commons and a nominated upper chamber called the Senate with limited powers, especially restricted in financial affairs.

People signed it saying that they would resist a home rule parliament in Ireland.

It was an uprising in Dublin in March 1914 where the Ulster Volunteers were encouraged to take action to arm themselves. The Irish National Volunteers responded but the authorities intervened.

It was in 1916. During the war, minority didn’t want to fight against Germany because they would be collaborating with Britain. Planned by Clarke, Pearse and Connolly. It was ill timed, ill planned and chaotically carried. Universally condemned by Irish people.

International embarrassment for Britain over events in Ireland. Press coverage in Ireland. Strength of Ulster Protestant majority opinion. Strength of Roman Catholic majority opinion in the south.
