Made up of 12 individuals who serve six year terms, 6 appointed by the supreme leader, 6 appointed by the Chief Justice. They have the power to control elections, and reviewed bills passed by Majlis to ensure they conform with sharia and then can block any bills/law
Guardian Council
Established by Khomeini. A parallel military force to the shah’s armed forces. Protects the republic.
Revolutionary Guard
Having only one legislative chamber.
unicameral .
Assembly that is directly elected by the people. Interprets the constitution and elected Khomeini’s successor. They can remove the supreme leader though this power has never been used.
Assembly of Experts
Otherwise known as Velayat - e faqih, a concept in Shia Islam that gives the clergy political and religious power

The president of Iran is directly elected by the people and only serves 2 terms. The current president of Iran is Masoud Pezeshkian.

Elite branch of the military that operates abroad
Quds Force
Dominated by the clergy, conducts day-to-day governance and initiates most of new laws and budget then submit them to parliament for approval modification, or rejection.

based on the Koran, its covers family, commercial, and criminal law from Islamic principles and it strictly interprets the law

Religious leaders or scholars who interpret Islamic law and guide the community in religious matters
Oldest political institution in Iran that changes laws and interprets legislation, they appoint 6 Guardian Council members.
