Q

What is the T/O minima for a QUALIFYING aircraft and what are the conditions?

A

Ceiling of 0ft and 550m visibility only if…

  1. The airport has RWY edge lighting not >60m apart + centreline lighting/markings
  2. The STBY switchover capability for the RWY lighting is not >1 second
  3. If the airport is a CTAF, the t/o must be conducted by day only and the carriage of radio is mandatory

800m visibility if the above conditions cannot be met

16
Q

What are the conditions of the T/O minima?

A
  1. Terrain clearance must be assured until reaching the LSALT/MSA either AEO or OEI
  2. If a return to the departure airport is needed, the LDG minima must be at or above the minimum specified on an instrument approach chart
  3. If a return to the departure airport is not possible, the plane must have enough fuel and performance to go to a suitable alternate
17
Q

What does the term ACVWPPLS mean in regards to needing and finding a suitable alternate?

A
  1. AIDS
  2. Cloud: Not >SCT below alternate minima
  3. Visibility: Not < the alternate minima
  4. Wind: XW or TW component not > aircraft capability w/ gusts considered
  5. PROB: Endorsed with a PROB forecast not < alternate minima at time of arrival
  6. PROV: Not endorsed with a PROV forecast
  7. Lighting
  8. Storms: Must not have storms at time of arrival
18
Q

What are the minimum AIDS requirements for RPT/CHTR in regards to needing and finding a suitable alternate?

A
  1. Airport has x1 AID and aircraft has x2 systems which can use the x1 AID
  2. Airport has x2 AIDS and aircraft has at least x1 system which can use each AID
19
Q

What are the minimum requirements for needing and finding a suitable alternate in regards to…

  • Portable RWY Lighting?
  • Fixed RWY Lighting with STBY Power?
  • Fixed RWY Lighting w/o STBY Power?
  • PAL with STBY Power?
  • PAL w/o STBY Power?
A
  • Portable RWY Lighting: Responsible person
  • Fixed RWY Lighting with STBY Power: NO responsible person
  • Fixed RWY Lighting w/o STBY Power: Responsible person
  • PAL with STBY Power: Responsible person
  • PAL w/o STBY Power: Responsible person
20
Q

What are the lighting requirements for an alternate airport?

A

Alternate must have…

  • Lighting which isn’t PAL
  • PAL lighting but with a responsible person
21
Q

When can you descend below the LSALT/MSA?

A
  1. Visual by Day
  2. Visual and within the circling area by night
  3. When vectored to an MDA < the LSALT/MSA
  4. While descending below the DME/GNSS steps
  5. During an instrument approach
  6. During departure (can be below MSA but can’t descend below MSA)
22
Q

When can you descend below the MDA whilst circling?

A
  1. Within the Circling area
  2. Visual with the RWY environment
  3. Visibility is not < the circling MDA
  4. By DAY, can descend to the minimum obstacle clearance requirement for the aircraft category until aligned w/ the RWY
  5. By DAY and NIGHT, must maintain MDA height until you can make a continuous descent which ensures minimum obstacle clearance until aligned w/ the RWY
23
Q

How many night T/O and LDG’s must you do in the last 90 days in order to fly passengers?

A

3 Night T/O and LDG’s
