When is the Equity method used?

A

The equity method is used when an investor can exercise significant influence over an investee. The meaning of significant influence is an ownership of 20% to 50% of the voting stock of the voting stock of the investee. The level of influence is simply a matter of professional judgment which considers both quantitative and qualitative factors.
