General Info about invasives

shade tolerance?

preferred sites?

reproductive strategies?(3)

Introduced from ?

A

most are fairly shade intolerant-like open areas with lots of sun

most prefer disturbed seedbeds

All have very effective reproductive strategies, including:

  • produce lots of seeds that can travel great distances
  • bank seed in soil for many years
  • some are perennial plants with extensive rhizomes

many intro’d from europe/asia without natural control agents
