Medical Oversight
A formal relationship between the EMS providers and the physician responsible for the out-of-hospital emergency medical care provided in a community
Who does FDNY EMS Operate under?
The license of The FDNY Medical Director
Direct medical control (Online medical control)
Direction given by the medical director to a field provider at the time that care is being given. Communication can be via radio, telephone, or actual contract on the scene
Indirect Medical Control (Offline Medical Control)
No communication with the medical director while care is being given. Standing orders, protocols, quality management, education
