A
- Divide the denominator into the numerator
- The quotient is the whole number portion of the mixed number. If there is a remainder, place it over the original denominator to form the fractional portion of the mixed number.

- Multiply the whole number by the denominator
- Add the product from step 1 to the numerator
- Write the total as the numerator of the fraction over the original denominator
