How do you simplify a fraction?

A
  1. Look for a common factor of the numerator and denominator. Find a whole number that divides evenly into both the numerator and the denominator.
  2. Divide the factor into both the numerator and the denominator and replace the original numbers with the quotients.
  3. Repeat the process until the only common factor of the numerator and denominator is 1.
