The word Philosophy comes from?
Philosophy comes from a combination of two Greek “ Philo” means = LOVE
“Sophia” means = WISDOM. The word philosophy is thus translated as “ Love of wisdom”
What is Philosophy?
The pursuit of knowledge. It is the study of knowledge, or an act of “Thinking about thinking” or “knowing about knowing”
What is Doxa or Opinion?
Is that kind of knowledge that refers to a common understanding or taken in a certain way, a common sense. It is considered as the lowest kind of knowledge because it lacks any proper justification.
What is Episteme or Scientific Knowledge?
Is a kind of knowing that has grounded or justified assertion. Has factual statements.
What is Techne or Technical Knowledge?
It is a knowledge of the ‘means-end’ of object, that is ‘how’ things are made and done.
What is Wisdom
Wisdom is the highest of all knowledge because it is the “most finished of the forms of knowledge” and it is knowledge of first principle
What is the Encounter with nothing
Is a moment that strips us of our familiarity with things and situations such that it disturbs us and haunts us or makes us wonder
What is an Example of Encounters with the Nothing?
When one attempts to solve a problem, there can be a moment in that thinking when breaks down to realization: What is the point of all these attempts to solve and learn at all?
Is endurance of the traumatic encounter with the nothing. This example is at the same time, the second crucial moment that we located in the apology.
