A

Define finish

A

1) A fabric finish is applied to a fabric once it has been made to improve its appearance, feel or to increase its serviceability.
2) Finishing refers to the processes that convert the woven or knitted cloth into a usable material and more specifically to any process performed after dyeing the yarn or fabric to improve the look, performance, or “hand” of the finished textile or clothing.

Explain apparel

A

Clothing and fashion underwent several transformations in the early modern world, reflecting the changing social, political, religious, and economic forces of which they were a part and an expression. Reflecting a heightened clothes-conscious, men and women constructed their identity by wearing garments.
1) PROTECTION- From elements like weather, environmental dangers and occupational hazards.
2) ADORNMENT- Clothing can affect a person’s mental attitude and morale in a good way. This is done through adornment or decoration. Adornment provides a psychological feeling of well-being through beauty. It differs between cultures and it changes over time.
3) BEAUTY - Is a quality that gives pleasure to the senses. It creates a positive emotional reaction in the viewer. People have a need to make them look more attractive. Body adornment enhances self-concept and personality.
4) IDENTIFICATION - It is the process of describing who someone is or what someone does. Clothing can identify employees of restaurants, hotels, hospitals, or stores, and people of many other professions.
5) MODESTY - Modesty is the covering of a person’s body according to the code of decency of that person’s society.
6) STATUS - A person’s status is his or her position or rank compared with that of others. Good or high status is usually associated with recognition , prestige, and social acceptance. Clothing is someone used to gain a higher rank in society.
7) INDIVIDUALITY - When people choose styles and colours that are totally different from those of their friends, they are communicating their individuality.
8) PERSONALITY - A person’s personality happy or sad, shy or outgoing, warm or aloof, kind or mean, relaxed and stiff, or something else can be expressed with different coloured clothes.
