What is sociology?
Sociology examines how society influences behaviour / beliefs and how individuals influence society. It’s a two-way process.
What is socialisation?
Describes how individuals learn the norms and values of society, leading to cohesive and functional society
What is primary socialisation?
Describes how individuals are socialised into their own family and local community’s norms
What is secondary socialisation?
Describes how people adopt the norms and values of wider society through insitutions such as the education system, religous bodies and the media
What is the social model of health?
Highlights social, cultural, political, economic, environmental influences for health and wellbeing
