  1. Autonomy- refers to the principle that individuals have the right to make their own decisions about their healthcare, based on their own values and preferences.
    * detemining individual’s capacity to make their own decisions
  2. Beneficence- principle of doing good and promoting the well-being of patients.
    * to act in the best intrests of patients and to provide care that maximizes overall benefit.
  3. Non-maleficence- principle of doing no harm.
    * minimize the risk of harm whenever possible.
  4. Justice- principle of fairness and equity in the distribution of healthcare resources
    * taking into account factors such as need, merit, and ability to pay.
