What does the term ‘family’ mean?
A group of people connected by blood, marriage, or adoption
What does the term ‘household’ mean?
Group of people who live together, who may or may not have kinship ties
What is a nuclear family?
Two generational family of a man and woman and thier dependant children, own or adopted
What is a vertical extended family?
Multiple generations living together e.g grandparents and great grandparents
What is a horizontal extended family?
Household made up of aunts uncles and cousins
What is a beanpole family?
Multi generational family that is long and thin with few aunts uncles and grandparents
What is a one person household family?
Person lives lone in an individual housing unit
What is LAT family?
Living apart together relationship
What is a one parent household family?
Where a mother or a father takes care of dependent children without a partner.
What is same sex family?
Homosexual couple living together with children
What is a reconsitutedfamily?
A family where one or both adults have children from previous relationships living with them
What is a cohabiting couple
When a couple live together in one household but are not legally married
