introduction to ALS Flashcards
exam questions
1) pre-learning
goal of high performance team intervention for respiratory and cardiac arrest
1) oxygenation, ventilation, circulation and return intact neurologic function
if patient appears unconscious
1) BLS assessment: check for a pulse and breathing
- if no pulse do compressions
high quality chest compressions
1) 2 inches, 30/2 beats per 2 breaths, 100-120 bpm, complete recoil
if not in cardiac arrest why give oxygen?
1) prevent hypoxia > titrate to 94% r above
2) for MI or stroke, do not go to 100%!! it is bad
SAMPLE
1) signs/symptoms, allergies, medications, past medical history, last meal, events
key things
1) threatened airways
2) resp less than 6 or mroe than 30 per mi
3) HR less than 40 or more than 140
4) systolic bp less than 90 mmHg
most common causes of cardiac arrest in adults are the 10 H and Ts
1) hypovolumeia and hypoxia
