Three levels of clinical functional
- Pre-clinic -You are about to begin the clinical experience.
- Entry into clinic -You are initially involved in the clinical experience.
- Active in clinic -You are actively involved in the clinical experience.
Why ignore technology?
- You must understand the learning and teaching processes
- You must evaluate your own needs

- Technology alone is not enough to make you a successful clinician (technology can always fail)
- You need to be able to do therapy without technology
- Brain is the best technology
Becoming a good clinician
- Depends totally on you
- Not on a keyboard or a mouse or any other technology
Pre-clinic students perceive
- A disconnect between the classroom and the clinic – How does my classwork relate to my client?
- A disconnect between the knowledge you have and the knowledge you believe you need to be successful – you must review or search for information
- Constantly a learning process, must always be willing to learn and search for information
Students have expressed “negative” feelings with words such as :
- anxious
- nervous
- uneasy
- uncomfortable
- apprehensive
- scared
- paranoid
- intense frustration
