One of the New Liberals, ‘Lloyd George’ moved around alot when he was younger, and so had a better understanding of how poor people lived. This meant when he went into national politics, he was knowlagable about poverty in Britain.

There were two main political partys in the late 18th century, the conservatives and liberals. Liberals were the most likely to gain working class support as they were more understanding of the poor, as they had more support for changing/improving the poverty situation in Britain.
