Q
What does xanthochromia from an LP indicate?
A
Xanthochromia is a pale pink/orange discoloration of LP sample from lysed cells in the setting of subarachnoid hemorrhage.
On the contrary, blood from a traumatic tap would not give xanthochromia–this is a way to differentiate blood from SAH and traumatic tap.
