What is composition
Organizing visual elements
THEORY - how eye and lens see. what is subject affected by.
eye/brain sees different than lens/camera. Subject is affected by the object and surrounding.
- INCLUSION/EXCLUSION
eyes pick out uniqueness (size, orientation, shape, color)
- MOVEMENTS
will draw attention over stills.
- SIZE
can draw attention if using a wide-angle lens in a close up. Can appear large.
- UNIQUE
stands out.
- UNUSUAL
stands out.
- BRIGHTNESS
we notice lighter colors than darker colors.
- SHAPES
Unique shapes draw our attention.
- COLOR
Bright and vibrant colors draw our attentions.
- SHARPNESS
sharpness draws our attention.
- CONTRAST
contrast from bright to dark such as cloud draws our attention. Plain even colors are not interesting.
- TEXT
eyes are drawn to text so we can read them.
- PEOPLE
we want to know more about people in photos.
- ANIMALS
drawn to animals in pictures.
