Auditory imagery

Olfactory imagery
pertains to flavors or the sense of taste.
Gustatory imagery
relates to the sense of touch. It is one of the seven types of sensory images used to create description in writing
Tactile imagery
- time and place in which the story takes place
Setting
- a literary device where two or more words in a phrase or line of poetry share the same beginning sound. The words can be adjacent or can be separated by one or more words.
Alliteration
- a figure of speech that makes a comparison, showing similarities between two different things. Unlike a metaphor, it draws resemblance with the help of the words “like” or “as.” Therefore, it is a direct comparison
Simile
: The comparison of one thing to another without the use of like or as
Metaphor
: a brief and indirect reference to a person, place, thing or idea of historical, cultural, literary or political significance.
Allusion
: a statement that contradicts itself and still seems true somehow
Paradox
: a literary technique in which two or more ideas, places, characters and their actions are placed side by side in a narrative or a poem for the purpose of developing comparisons and contrasts.
Juxtaposition
: is a literary device that is used step by step in literature to highlight and explain the details about a character in a story. … The final part shows how others in the story respond to the character’s personality.
Characterization (indirect and direct)
: can be defined as style of speaking or writing determined by the choice of words by a speaker or a writer.
Diction
: derived from a Greek word meaning “over-casting,” is a figure of speech that involves an exaggeration of ideas for the sake of emphasis. It is a device that we employ in our day-to-day speech.
Hyperbole
: the angle of considering things, which shows us the opinion, or feelings of the individuals involved in a situation
