Intro to Neuro Rehab Flashcards
1
Q
neuro PT considerations
A
- contrived vs functional
- contrived = artificial/deliberately created; functional = naturally occurring - stages of motor learning
- cognitive, associative, autonomous - Nagi vs ICF
2
Q
Nagi vs ICF
A
- disablement vs enablement
- Nagi levels = disease (cellular), impairment (system/body), functional limitation (person), disability (social)
- ICF levels = health condition (cellular), body structure and function (system/body), activity (person), participation (social)
3
Q
things to remember for neuro rehab
A
- practice
- feedback
- environment
- cognition and attention levels
- don’t speak down to pts
- decrease dependence
- impossible to tell pt how to do everything
- pt goals/why are they here?
- end the day with success
* continually look for ways to improve QOL and how to motivate you patients
4
Q
values
A
- inner force that provides the standards by which patterns of choices are made
- made up of beliefs, emotions, attitudes (good/bad)
- internal
- difficult to measure
- reflected in behavior and actions
- plays critical role in clinical decision making process
5
Q
conflicting values
A
- values impact PT’s clinical decisions
- may not be the same as pt’s values
- pts often coming to PT as a result of placing other values and needs above physical health and injury prevention
6
Q
question values and biases
A
- can you remain nonjudgemental?
- will it affect your behavior towards the pt and family?
- are you (as a PT) detracting from or facilitating the rehab process?
