What social class begin to increase in classical era?
A
The middle class, they started attending to opera and such and even learning to play instruments and music themselves like nobles.

Sonata form
A
- also called sonata/allegro form
- Ternary form (ABA)
- Refers to a form of single movement.
Has 3 major sections in Sonata:
- Exposition
- Development
- Recapitulation (may have Coda “tag or tail” sometimes at the end)

A
- Ternary formed based upon stately court dance of the baroque period.
- ABA- minuet (A), trio (B), minuet (A)

Classical Symphony
A
- An extended, ambitious musical composition lasting for 20-45 minutes also multi-movement instrumental work.
- Has 4 movements:
- 1st fast
- 2nd slow
- 3rd fast dance-like
- 4th fast

Classical Chamber Music
A
- Designed for the intimate setting of a room, rather than concert hall.
- the most important setting is the string quartet (2 violins, viola, cello) with 4 movements.
