Q

Why is Antibiotic resistance bad?

A

Because when we are sick, we tend to not take the prescribed dosage of antibiotic. This results in empowering the bacteria, making it impossible to kill.

Q

Who introduced the method of hand washing?

A

Ignaz Semmelweis

17
Q

What happened during the origin of Anoxygenic photosynthesize and Oxygenic photosynthesize?

A

Oxygen molecule was created

18
Q

Why was the Spontaneous Generation Theory disproved?

A

Pasteur replicated the situation wherein there is left meat in a container that is left open, in a container that is tightly closed, and in a container with mesh cover. After some time, maggots and flies began appearing and swarming around the container that is left open, maggots and flies began appearing and swarming around the mesh cover on the container with a mesh cover while no maggots and flies appeared and swarm around the meat in a container that is tightly closed. This concluded that life could not spontaneously arise from a nonliving matter.

19
Q

Who introduced the aseptic technique in order to kill and prevent from microbial infection of surgical patients?

A

Joseph Lister

20
Q

Enumerate what are the impact of microbiology on diseases

A

Phytopathogens, Human Pathogens, COVID-19 Pandemic

21
Q

Who started formulating Cell theory?

A

Robert Hooke

22
Q

What year did the hand washing method become standardized?

A

1980

23
Q

What do the Germ theory of Disease or Koch’s Postulate states or proposes?

A

That some diseases are caused by microorganism

24
Q

Who discovered the causative agent of diseases like anthrax, cholera, and tuberculosis?

A

Robert Koch

25
Q

Why did Ignaz Semmelweis proposed the hand washing method?

A

He noticed that the hospital run by doctors have high death rate on mothers who gave birth and their children compared to the midwifery run by midwives. He noticed that it is because of cadavers passed on to mothers and infants from doctors who also performs surgeries and autopsies. He proposed this method and the death rate dropped. However since doctors felt they were blamed for the death of mothers and their children, they rebelled and did not use the hand washing method until after a plague/epidemic

26
Q

Explain the Koch’s Postulate

A

A microorganism is obtained from an individual or organism with a disease. This microorganism must be isolated from those who are affected by it but not those who are not and is still alive. Then, it will will introduce to a healthy individual or organism causing a disease. A microorganism from the healthy individual or organism should be obtained and be re-isolated. This microorganism should be found to be identical to the original microorganism.
