The line of authority when dealing with workplace issues
Person Centered Care involves not being
Biased, or prejudiced against certain groups of people
The care plan should always be followed… its purpose is to
make sure residents needs are met, set goals for providing care, list tasks and treatments specific to each resident, list residents diagnosis, limitations. ACTIVITIES NOT LISTED ON THE CARE PLAN SHOULD NOT BE PERFORMED… (even if the resident asks.)
Guidelines for managing time might include:
Planning ahead, Prioritizing tasks, Making a schedule, Combining activities, Asking for help when needed.
OBRA was passed in response to reports of poor care and abuse of residents in long term care facilities… As a result we now have :
An abuse registry, A Minimum data set (which defines how often a resident must be assessed) & Requirements for CNA’s to pass a competency exam consisting of both written and skills portions.
Residents rights state how they must be treated while living in a facility…. some of these include:
Quality of Life Services and activities to maintain a high level of wellness Right to be informed Right to participate in their own care Right to visitors
Abuse is both Physical and
Phycological (emotional)
Advanced directives are legal documents that let residents decide what?
What type of medical care they do or do not wish to receive and who they want to be in charge of making these decisions if they no longer can.
Subjective information is some thing
Some one states: or tells you. IE: Mrs. Jones said she slipped out of her recliner, but she is not hurt.
Objective information is:
Something you can See, Feel, Hear, Smell or measure.
(YOU OBSERVE IT)
