1
Q

What is the concept behind GIS?

A

GIS integrates hardware and software tools used to capture data, store, manipulate and manage said data, visualize data captured and analyse data captured.

Q

GIS data storlaget , manipulation and processindustrin.

A

Database: data can be stores in a database .
Filés: data can Alsobe stored as stand alone filés.
Raster data: grid base data
Vector data: point, line and polygon data .
Projections and coordinate systems: these define how spatial data is represented on a map . It ensures that GIS layers align with coordinate reference systems .
Correcting errors: involves detecting and fixing spatial inaccuracies such as misplaced points , topological errors or attribute data mistakes.
Conversion : transformation of GIS data form one form to another ( vector to raster or vice versa).
Georeferencing : involves aligning raster images to real world coordinates known as control points .

Q

Site analysis ?

A

This is finding the right site for a project depending on a number of listed /defined criteria.
NB : the broader or more generic your criteria are the sites you have to sift through .

Q

Summary about GIS

A

This helps to solve geographical problems( what is where)
There are huge amounts of data.
It is a process ( data capture, storage ,analysis manipulation, representing/visualization) and requires both hardware and software.
Huge amounts of data available.

Q

What is attribute data?

A

Attribute data is the descriptive information attached to spatial features. While spatial data describes geographic information (location , shape)attribute data describes characteristics (the what )
