Intro To CVR Flashcards
What happens to the release of Norepinephrine if you stimulate a2 receptor
Inhibit the release of NE
What happens if you block a2 receptors
You increase NE release! (Yohimbine does this)
What happens when baroreceptors detect stretch (increased BP)
They fire MORE onto the inhibitory interneurons in the brain stem
=decreased SNS output and lower HR
What happens if baroreceptors in the carotid detect less stretch (low BP)
They fire LESS on the inhibitory interneurons so MORE sympathetic signal gets through = increased HR
Which is used for short term regulation: baroreflex or RAAS system
Baroreflex. Happens in about 3-5 heart beats
What effect do beta blockers have on reflex tachycardia
BLOCK it
