Q

What is storage?

A

the volume you can store. Traditional computers has a limited amount. With cloud computing you can get more when you need it.

Q

Describe the shared responsibility model

A

responsibilities get shared between cloud provider and consumer.

Responsibility of cloud provider:
- physical security
-power
-cooling
-network connectivity

Responsibility of consumer:
- data and information stored (cloud provider cannot CRUD the data)
- Security, and who has access and priviliges.

Q

Infrastructure as a Service: responsibility?

A

IaaS places the most responsibility on the consumer, with the cloud provider being responsible for the basics of physical security, power, and connectivity.

Q

Platform as a Service: responsibilities?

A

PaaS rests somewhere in the middle and evenly distributes responsibility between the cloud provider and the consumer.

Q

Define cloud model: “private”

A

With a
The natural evolution from a corporate datacenter.
A cloud used by a single entity.
+ provides much greater control for the company and its IT department
- comes with greater cost and fewer benefits of a public cloud deployment.
+ May be hosted from your on site datacenter.
+ may also be hosted in a dedicated datacenter officite.

Q

cloud model: “public”

A

The cloud models define the deployment type of cloud resources, in this case public

Built, controlled and maintained by a third-party cloud provider
Anyone that wants to purchase clous services can access and use resources.
General oublic availability is a key difference between public and private clouds

Q

cloud model: “hybrid”

A

-computing environment that uses both public and private clouds in an inter-connected environment.
-can be used to allow a private cloud to surge for increased, temporary demand by deploying public cloud resources.
-Can be used to provide an extra layer of security
ex. users can flexibly choose which services to keep in public cloud and which to deploy in their private cloud infrastructure.

Q

Describe the consumption based model

A

Capital expenditure (CapEx) and operational expenditure (OpEx).
CapEx one-time, up-front expenditure to purchase or secure tangible resources. (ex. building a datacenter)

OpEx - spending money on services or products over time. ex. signing up for cloud services.

Cloud computing operates on a cosumption-based model.
> you donät pay for the physical infrastrucutre, electricity, security or anithyng associated with maintaining a datacenter.
> You pay for the IT resources you use.
>+ if you dont’ use any resources, you don’t pay for any resources.

Q

Name the benefits of the consumption based model

A

+ no upfront costs
+ no need to pruchase and manage costly infrastructure that users might not use to its fullest potential.
+ ability to pay for more resources when they’re needed
+ ability to stop paying for resources that are no longer needed.
