Q

What are mechanics?

A

Classified into three categories:

  • Kinematics: defining movement without reference to the forces that cause the movement
  • Kinetics: An analysis of the forces that cause movement
  • Energetics: Applying concepts of work, energy and power to human movement

Kinematic Measures

A

Time (seconds)
Displacement (m)
Velocity (m/s)

Q

Angular Kinematics

A

This is how people move (and all other vertebrate animals)

  • Time
  • Angular Displacement (degrees or radians)
  • Angular Velocity (degrees/s or radians/s)
  • Angular Acceleration (degrees/s^2 or radians/s^2)

Average Angular Velocity

A

(Pheta2 - Pheta1) / (t2-t1)

Q

Average velocity

A
  • Can either be deltaV/deltaT
  • Or (V1+V2)/2
  • So when we start at rest V1=0 and therefore V2= 2*averageV
