These are information systems developed by a company.

These are information system purchased by the company from outside vendors.
What is a system?
It is a set of related components that produce specific results.
What is data?
It consists of basic facts that are the system’s raw material.

This is data that has been transformed into output that is valuable to users.

What is hardware?
Hardware consists of everything in the physical layer of the information system. e.g. servers, workstations, networks, telecommunications equipment.

It refers to the programs that control the hardware and produce desired information or results.
What is system Software?
- It manages the hardware components, which include a single workstation or a global network with many thousands of clients.
- Controls the flow of data
- Provides data security.
- Manages network operations.
What is application software?
They consist of programs that support day-to-day business functions and provide users with the information they require.
What are legacy systems?
These are the older systems of a company.
