Structured interviews
A set list of questions is decided upon before interview and this is all that is asked
Semi structured
A list of suggested open questions or areas are set but there is some flexibility in how and when they are asked
Unstructured interviews
No pre planned questions but might have headings to guide a free-flowing discussion
Group interviews
More than one p takes part
Strengths of interviews
Descriptive, detailed, data
Full consent
Able to stop face to face
Limitations of interviews
Costly and time consuming
Less valid - p’s know they’re being interviewed
