Interview Process, Details, Paperworks Flashcards
If hired, when can you start?
Mid November. So I can resign from my airline properly and arrange my move from Vietnam to my new base
Tell me about a time you had an altercation or disagreement in the flight deck?
Disagreement.
I flew with a Captain who liked to fly very fast and did not do the checklists. I would bring out the checklists even when not asked, kindly saying, Captain, are you ready for…?
On the speed, I told him that I was not comfortable with the speed and he eventually started slowing down.
What base would you be interested in if hired?
In this order:
1. Orlando
2. Miami
3. Houston
Do you know anybody at Spirit Airlines?
No
What is your favorite base?
Miami. Only because I have been there before. I love the food, I love Cuban food. The people are great, love the culture.
What would you do if you don’t get based in your preferred base right away?
Rent and live there. I would avoid commuting to get maximum rest. Also from experience, I end up liking the places I was based in even when they were not my preferred bases.
Are you familiar with Spirit pilot bases?
AACDDFHLMO
Atlanta, Atlantic City, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, Houston, Las Vegas, Miami, Orlando
If we hire you, how long do you plan on working here?
Until I retire.
Did you call in sick to make it to the interview?
No. I am on vacation leave.
How did you prepare for the interview?
Research online and studied Aviation Airline Interviews
Have you applied at any other airlines? Why did you apply with them first?
Yes. Kalitta Air. I was told by my friend to start applying there.
It was a learning experience. I was in Manila and got a call at 2am. Woken up, started the interview. I realized I knew nothing about Kalitta. Just as well. I was half hearted applying for Kalitta. I want to stay in Airbus.
I learned US interviews are done differently from Asia where it’s all about the experience on type.
I learned from that interview and so am now better prepared.
Where is Spirit Airlines Headquarters?
Miramar, Florida
Are you prepared to take a pay cut?
Yes. I have savings and I can weather a storm.
I have also taken a pay cut in the past with Air Asia. During the pandemic, half on the first year and none on the second. I only moved on when it seemed already there was no choice but to move on. So I went to Vietjet.
You pull of the runway on a narrow taxiway and there are no lights and there are orange cones blocking you. What do you do?
Tell the Captain to stop, there are orange cones blocking the narrow taxi way. We call Ground for instructions and assistance, if needed, we can ask for Progressive Taxi instructions
